Throughout the Centennial year, Grand Master Boyd Patterson will go live on Facebook periodically to update DeMolays around the world on the progress of the Order. In his first livestream of the year, Dad Patterson will speak from Dad Land’s office about things DeMolay International has begun during the first two months of the year, and the Board meeting that will take place earlier that day.
On November 8th, DeMolay International will break ground on the Charity enShrined Centennial Courtyard at the Henry E. “Hank” Stickney Service & Leadership Center. Additionally, there will be a Centennial Chevalier Observance in Kansas City that evening, which will welcome Active and Senior DeMolays from around the world to commemorate the anniversary of Dad Land’s passing.Order a brick
The Paul R. Kach, 33°, Essay Competition awards $300 cash to each Regional Winner (2 winners from each of the 10 DeMolay Regions) and $1,200 cash for 2 International Winners . For the 2 International Winners, their combined winnings are $1,500 cash. For 2019 only, the International winners will each receive a $5,000 academic scholarship. Entries in this essay competition must answer, “ How can DeMolay create leaders in a global community?” While the content of the essay is of primary concern, proper grammar and spelling will also be factors in the judging.Submit Essay
On or near the anniversary of Dad Land’s death, Chapters should hold an event in his honor. Such events could include a Frank S. Land dinner, presenting a copy of “Hi Dad!”, or visiting Dad Land’s gravesite.
During the holiday season, DeMolay Chapters should hold an event to bring comfort to the elderly and those in need. Possible events could include a canned food drive or visit to a nursing home.
For the second time in the Centennial year, Grand Master Boyd Patterson will go live on Facebook to update DeMolays around the world on the progress of the Order. During this livestream at the halfway point of the year, Dad Patterson will discuss how the term has progressed, and will talk about upcoming events like the Grand Master’s Trip to Paris on March 15th-19th and the Worldwide Initiation Day on April 1st.
This day is meant to celebrate DeMolay’s 7th Precept: Patriotism. Chapters are encouraged to create programs to celebrate their country and those who have served it. Possible events could include the singing of the National Anthem, visiting historical sites, or holding an essay contest about patriotism with a local school.
Chapters should attend a local mosque, synagogue, or church together to celebrate DeMolay’s 2nd Precept: Reverence for Sacred Things. Chapters are encouraged to reach out to the church, mosque, or synagogue they will attend to offer to assist in the service if they are so inclined.
Members and Advisors of DeMolay will go to Paris during the days surrounding the 704th anniversary of Jacques DeMolay’s death. Among other sites, those who go on the trip will visit the Louvre, the Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame, and a prison which likely held DeMolay during his trials. There will also be a Legion of Honor Observance in Paris on March 18th.
In celebration of the first recorded meeting of Mother Chapter, DeMolay will hold initiations worldwide in almost every time zone. Since the meeting took place at 7:45pm, chapters are encouraged to start in the evening so that the initiation will take place at roughly the same time. All DeMolays initiated on Worldwide Initiation Day will be recognized in the Centennial Session Yearbook.
This day celebrates DeMolay’s 1st Precept: Filial Love. Chapters should hold an event in honor of their parents. Events could include a dinner, a performance of the Flower Talk, or another event which the chapter deems appropriate.
This day celebrates our public schools. Chapters should hold an event to emphasize the importance of education, like inviting a teacher to speak to the chapter, donating books to the local library, or volunteering to help a school event.
